Taboo!

Have you ever wondered how often you have talked to a man about "Women`s Affairs" (haha, not affairs, just themes)? You know, those things that affect ONLY women, and that means ALL women. Like menstruation, pregnancy, menopause, how hard it is to find a well-fitting bra, how easily a small woman can choke from a seat belt because they were only tested on average-size males? Women have to cope with situations that many men have no idea of. When have you told your colleague that befor you can join him in the conference you must first change your tampon or you would bleed through? Men, as we know, tend to shy away when it comes to "uncleanness" in women. They hope we just don`t mention it! But you see, that is the problem. Men just don`t HAVE such "disturbances" that are, however, a part of every woman`s life, from an early age of about 11 on to 50. No woman can choose to say, Thanks, not for me. But with whom have you discussed this, except your husband or your doctor? On the male side, I mean. This goes even more for pregnancies. Or miscarriages. Do you know how often Mother Nature ends a pregnancy all by herself? If a fetus is not able to live by itself, if the mother had an accident or toxication, if something in the development gets in the way. It happens so many times, and we all hear it from our sisters, or experience it ourselves. My aunt told me how heartbroken she was when she lost her 4 months-old fetus in the toilet, after cramps shook her. She had wanted this child. It just happened. But only her husband and her doctor heard about her suffering, for everyone else she was just "sick" for a while. Why do we not share such stories more? What makes US ashamed? We are women. It belongs to our lives. And even if a woman had a deliberate miscarriage, for whatever reason (and there are hundreds, don`t close your eyes to them!), there is often heartbreak involved, and not irresponsibility. If women had shared more of her stories, made them available, especially to lawmakers, wouldn`t that have changed consciousness? I wonder. There is a forum on the internet where women are sharing these life stories that never left any of them untouched. I wish every lawmaker had to read at least 20 of them, just to get a feeling for what a woman`s life contains!

  2. I'm having the same problem as Mandy. I can access it because I've saved it in my "bookmarks" section, but cannot find it by searching the internet. I think the same problem goes with my new blog too! Angela, would you please check if this link works? https://atexaswomanthinking.blogspot.com/
